We are working towards using fairly traded BCI cotton in our whole range for cotton products. We also incorporate fabrics made from recycled textiles and plastic bottles in our outerwear and coming soon our swimwear. Also in any products we can.

The weights and qualities of our fabrics are selected to ensure they wash well and maintain their shape ensuring each garment can be used again and passed on to friends and family.  Producing garments for multiple owners is the most sustainable way to design and sell clothing.  FAMTA is also one of our sustainable fashion initiatives.

We are also looking to reduce all plastic usage wherever possible.

BCI

BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) is the largest cotton sustainability program in the world.  The work with the entire cotton supply chain from farmer to mill and on to production and brands like ourselves.  BCI cotton ensures ethical and sustainability within the industry.  Look for the logo on our products.

WHAT IS FAIR TRADE?

Fair Trade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. We follow these principles and believe we trade fairly. The fair trade accreditation is another step up which means every step is checked and accounted for. We do not have fair trade accreditation as the breadth of products we makes it impossible. Our Bcorp accreditation checks and signs off on how we work with factories to ensure social and environmental concerns are at the heart of how they operate.

FSC: The Forest Stewardship Council is an organisation established to promote responsible management of the world's forests. They do this by setting standards on forest usage, along with certifying and labelling products so you know they are eco-friendly.

ORGANIC

There are different levels of considering what an organic piece of clothing is. We do not currently use any certified organic cotton (where just the cotton is organic), nor do we produce any certified organic cotton items or clothing (which use the organic cotton but ALSO have used only natural organic dyes and been made within an organic factory certified for it). We have in the past but found customers were not prepared to pay more for it. We are using BCI cotton which helps sustainability, social and environmental practices of growing cotton and will continue to explore using organic cotton should we feel it is the right solution.

RECYCLED POLYESTER

Our recycled polyester products are made from unwanted plastic bottles and/or waste textiles that otherwise would end up in landfill. Not only does this re-purpose bottles and textiles it also reduces the need for virgin materials and therefore oil. We work with specialist companies to produce these textiles and ensure these claims are correct.
