SPF is the rating you are familiar with for sunscreens and other sun protective products, while UPF measures the amount of UV radiation that penetrates through fabrics.

JoJo sun protection fabric is tested to the British Standard BS EN 13758 for UPF and performs to the required standard of 40+. In fact, our fabric exceeds this standard and performs to 50+

Additionally, under BS EN 13758, 1- & 2-piece Sun Protection Suits and Rash Vests must comply with body coverage requirements. This means the length of the sleeves must cover to below the elbow and the leg length must be below the knee.

Sun hats have their own requirements BS 8466: 2006 to follow regarding peak depth, brim depth and back neck cover that must be followed to be compliant. 

Sun hats can be both officially "sun protection" which have their own legal requirement standards of BS 8466: 2006 to follow regarding peak depth, brim depth and back neck cover that must be followed to be compliant - or can equally just be a sun hat that keeps sun off the face. We label hats very clearly when they have official sun protection.

All our Sunglasses are made with UV protective lenses, to help keep children's eyes safe from harmful rays. We offer flexible sunglasses that have a detachable strap that is adjustable for a snug fit and means they won't get lost. We also offer standalone sunglasses and standalone straps if a customer prefers to have the choice.
